When readwritesplit is routing any queued queries, the currently executed
command of the protocol modules needs to be adjusted by
readwritesplit. This is not a true fix but more of a workaround to fix the
problems of queued query execution.
The correct solution would be to move the queued query handling into the
client protocol module so that all components see the same state.
Asserting that only a complete COM_STMT_PREPARE is returned when the
prepared statement preparation is extracted will guarantee that the
protocol works as expected.
The enums exposed by the connector are not intended to be used by the
users of the library. The fact that the protocol, and other, modules used
it was in violation of how the library is intended to be used.
Adding an internal mapping into MaxScale also removes some of the
dependencies that the core has on the connector.
Cleaned up the MaxScale version of the mysql.h header by removing all
unused includes. This revealed a large amount of dependencies on these
removed includes in other files which needed to be fixed.
Also sorted all includes in changed files by type and alphabetical
order. Removed explicit revision history from modified files.
When a COM_CHANGE_USER was executed, it is possible that the server
responds with a AuthSwitchRequest packet instead of an OK packet. In this
case, the server sends a new scramble which must be used to create the 20
byte hash that is expected as the response.
When an unexpected response to a COM_CHANGE_USER is received, it is now
processes and discarded instead of treated as an error. This will allow
further analysis of the situation in addition to possibly solving some of
the problems that the persistent connections have.
Added extra info level logging to relevant parts of the code that deal
with the COM_CHANGE_USER reply processing. This information should allow
tracking of the response state for debugging purposes.
The backend server can send a response even if the client hasn't sent a
request. One case where this occurs is when the server is shutting
down. The internal logic of readwritesplit can't handle unexpected states
gracefully so the safest thing to do is to just ignore them and send the
responses to the client.
The default database can now be manipulated with a set of functions
exposed by the maxscale/protocol/mysql.h header. This removes the need to
handle the structures themselves in the modules and is a step towards
moving the dcb->data contents inside the session.
Refactored the backend authentication functions so that they can be
exposed to the tee filter. This allows the tee filter to use the same
functions as the protocol modules use without having to reimplement them
inside the tee filter.
The server internal session id may be larger than 4 bytes (MariaDB uses 8)
but only 4 are sent in the handshake. The full value can be queried
from the server, but this query is not supported by MaxScale yet. In any
case, both the protocol and MXS_SESSION now have 64 bit counters. Only the
low 32 bits are sent in the handshake, similar to server.
The backend MySQL protocol can now collect prepared statement preparation
responses as well as result sets. This removes the need to parse and
collect the preparation responses at the router level.
Removed pthread_self calls from the backend modules. This makes the debug
logging easier to parse when the messages aren't prefixed with the verbose
thread ID.
The functions used to track the resultset EOF packets now expose the
position of the end of the result set. This allows the modules that use
them to check if more results exist in the same buffer.
Added the status bits for OK and EOF packets to the mysql.h protocol
header. This can be used to check for various state changes that happen in
the session. Currently the status bits are only used to detect if more
results are expected.
When batched queries are done through readwritesplit, it will now handle
them one by one. This allows batched queries to be used with
readwritesplit but it does impose a performance penalty when compared to
direct execution on the backend.
Some of the protocol modules use ssize_t instead of size_t.
Split the function that counts the number of response packets a session
command will receive into two parts. This allows it to be reused
elsewhere.
The client protocol module can resolve whether a password was used based
on the information the authenticators gather before authentication is
done. It uses the authentication token length as the basis on which it
makes the decision.
Removed unused spinlocks from DCBs, sessions and the MySQL protocol
structs. They were used in a context where only one thread has access to
the structure.
Removed unused member variables from DCBs.
The backend MySQL protocol module now supports a new routing capability
which allows result sets to be gathered into one buffer before they are
routed onward. This should not be used by modules that expect large
result sets as the result set is buffered in memory.
Adding a limit on how large of a result set could be buffered would allow
relatively safe use of this routing capability without compromising the
stability of the system.
The packet was generated with the wrong number of elements due to usage of
sizeof on an integer where the correct type was an uint8_t.
This only fixes the malformed packets but does not fix the root cause of
the problem. The affected rows and last insert ID are length encoded
integers which should be handled. The current code treats them as one byte
fields.
When a persistent connection is taken from the pool, the state is reset
with a COM_CHANGE_USER on the next write. This allows reuse of persistent
connections without having to worry about the state of the MySQL session.
In a subsequent change, the includes of server/core/*.c will be
cleaned up, and if there is a common set of include files, needed
by most, then a server/core/maxscale/core.h that includes those
will be introduced.
The general purpose stuff in skygw_utils.h was moved to utils.h
and the corresponding implementation from skygw_utils.cc to utils.c.
Includes updated accordingly.
Skygw_utils.h is now only used by log_manager and by mlist, which
is only used by log_manager. Consequently, skygw_utils.h was moved
to server/maxscale.
Utils.h needs a separate overhaul.
- STRERROR_BUFLEN moved to cdefs.h and renamed to MXS_STRERROR_BUFLEN.
Better would be to provide a 'const char* mxs_strerror(int errno)'
that would have a thread specific buffer for the error message.
- MIN and MAX also moved to defs.h as MXS_MIN and MXS_MAX.
- Now only mlist.h of the headers depend upon skygw_utils.h.
- Headers now to be included as <maxscale/xyz.h>
- First step, no cleanup of headers has been made. Only moving
from one place to another + necessary modifications.
The GSSAPI backend authentication is based on tokens. The server first
sends the service principal name which is used for token generation. The
client then retrieves a token from the GSSAPI server which it sends to the
backend server. If the server can verify the authenticity of the token,
authentication is successful.
This module can be used with both GSSAPIAuth and MySQLAuth modules.
The first message exchange between the server and the client will almost
always contain the same data. If the server is going to change
authentication methods, it will send an AuthSwitchRequest packet instead
of the OK/ERR packet that it would normally send. Only after this point
the authenticator modules actually need to do something.
In the case of the default 'mysql_native_password' plugin, the only thing
that the plugin needs to do is to check whether the server responded with
an OK packet.
The MySQLCommon library contains functions used by both the protocol and
authenticator modules. The contents of the modutil.c file could also be
moved to this file if the functions in that file are only used by modules
and not the core.
