</variable></paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3150869" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="2">$[officename] Calc Scenarios are important aids for making numbers that are dependent upon each other, and their resulting calculations, visible. Scenarios allow you create a list of values to select from for a given cell or group of cells. The contents of these cells change when you select different items from the list.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3155132" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="28">Modify specific basic requirements in the table and you will see the new result. You can give a name to the scenario created in this manner and compare it with other scenarios.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="heading" id="hd_id3149664" xml-lang="en-US" level="3" l10n="U" oldref="3">Using Ready-Made Scenarios</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3152596" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="4">We have provided a ready-made example of scenarios for you to work with.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3145251" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="9">What you see is a sample spreadsheet in which several scenarios have been created.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3148458" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="10">Areas in which the scenarios are located are surrounded by frames. Select the appropriate scenario in the list box appearing at the top of every frame.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3153415" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="11">Scenarios can also be selected in the Navigator:</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3154256" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="14">In the Navigator, you see the defined scenarios with the comments that were entered when the scenarios were created.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="heading" id="hd_id3149255" xml-lang="en-US" level="3" l10n="U" oldref="15">Creating Your Own Scenarios</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3154704" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="16">To create a scenario, select all the cells that provide the data for the scenario. </paragraph>

You can also select multiple cells distributed across the table. To select multiple cells, hold down the <switchinline select="sys"><caseinline select="MAC"><item type="keycode">Command</item>

<item type="keycode">Ctrl</item></defaultinline></switchinline> key as you click each cell. </paragraph>

<paragraph role="listitem" id="par_id3150364" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="18">Choose <emph>Tools - Scenarios</emph>. The <emph>Create Scenario</emph> dialog appears.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="listitem" id="par_id3166426" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="19">Enter a name for the new scenario and leave the other fields unchanged with their default values. Close the dialog with OK. Your new scenario is automatically activated.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="listitem" id="par_id3150369" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="20">Change the values in the frames to the values you want to apply to your new scenario.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3154368" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="22">If you want to know which values in the scenario affect other values, choose <emph>Tools - Detective - Trace Dependents</emph>. You will see arrows to the cells that are directly dependent on the current cell.</paragraph>
