Base natively supports some flat file database formats, such as the dBase format. You can also use Base to connect to external relative databases, such as databases from MySQL or Oracle.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="note" id="par_idN107E7" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="NEW">The database file contains queries, reports, and forms for the database as well as a link to the database, where the records are stored. Formatting information is also stored in the database file. Apart from a few exceptions, the database file does not include database records.<comment>UFI: but the Embedded database spec tells that it is possible. Unfortunately there are two specs with inconsistent info. Must wait for the wizard</comment></paragraph>
